ARTIST STATEMENT ____________________________________________________________________________ My attraction to art started out at a really young age. I use to watch my brother Paul illustrate cartoons and I remember feeling so excited. I watched him start from a blank sheet of paper and finish with a creation of story. It was as if he brought life to a page. At that moment I fell in love. I grew completely fond of the life art could bring. Drawing wasn’t only having a good time for me. It was the silence around me, the sound of the lead gliding against the paper, and most of all, it was the finished piece. Since the beginning I have had a strong attraction to drawing people. There is nothing like the beauty you can capture in candid moments, in laughter, and even pain. I have phased from pencil, oil pastel, color pencil, pastel and finally to painting. I have grown very passionate to the large variety of color, the mixture, splashes, and strokes that painting brings. All of the different hues bring room for more inspiration. Throughout painting, I have ventured into depicting my life experiences to canvas. Like capturing the beauty with people I have also grown an inspiration to capture the beauty of life. I believe that part of the life's beauty lies between the connections of people. All of the emotions and energy that we feel throughout chaos, hatred, pain, racism, sadness and even laughter are all felt the same. We all find ourselves still in that moment, and subliminally, we are all one with existence, all connected, all brothers and sisters. I wish and hope that one day I can spread the light throughout my art to promote change, equality and love to all people and communities.
